Junior Golf Academy

Starting at $199/mo
Mon to Thu · Middle & High School · groups of 5

This isn't after-school lessons. It's an academy. Kids train in small groups of 5 on a curriculum that builds week over week, and Phil Johnson coaches every session himself. He's spent 25+ years teaching everyone from first-timers to scratch players. Kids get better at golf, move like athletes, learn to compete, and have fun doing it. Enroll once for the school year, starting August 24, and your kid keeps the same seat all year.

Grouped by Grade Level, Not Just Age.

Middle and high schoolers train in separate sessions so the coaching, the pace, and the room match where they are. Both run Monday through Thursday, rain or shine, indoors in the studio. 5 players max per session, so every kid gets real feedback.

Grades 6 to 8 · ages ~11 to 14
Middle School
4:30 to 6:00 PM · Mon to Thu
The early session. Foundations, athletic movement, and building a swing that holds up, at a pace that fits middle schoolers.

High School
6:15 to 7:45 PM · Mon to Thu
The later session, timed to work around high school sports and jobs. More serious player development, launch data, and competitive prep.

Simple, No Surprises.

School-Year Enrollment

Sign up once for the 2026-27 school year, August through May. Your kid keeps the same seat and the curriculum builds all year, with no re-enrollment gap.

Billed Monthly, In Advance

One flat monthly rate, charged on your signup date. You're always paying for the month ahead, never the whole year at once.

Cancel Anytime

Change of plans? Cancel whenever. You won't be billed again, and your kid keeps every remaining session in the month you've already paid for.

90 Minutes of Real Development.

Full Swing Fundamentals

Setup, grip, posture, contact, and the moves that actually matter. Built up across the season so each week stacks on the last.

Full Swing Simulator

Kids get instant feedback on club speed, ball speed, carry, and path. They see what their swing is doing, not just hear about it.

Short Game & Scoring

Chipping, pitching, and putting, the shots that lower scores fastest. A core part of the program every week.

Golf Fitness & Competition

Speed, rotation, balance, and mobility to move like an athlete, plus a daily competition to close every session. Leaderboards, not standing around.

Every session moves through the same blocks, so no time gets wasted: check-in, golf fitness, full swing, simulator, scoring, and a daily competition to finish.

A Plan, Not Random Reps.

Each month has a theme so the season builds toward something. This is a sample plan. Phil adjusts the monthly focus to fit the group, so it can shift. The year runs in two semesters, fall and spring, but you enroll once for the full school year, August 24 through May.

The Stuff You're Wondering About.

What about school breaks and holidays?
We follow the local school calendar, so when school is out for a holiday, so is the academy. The academy is closed for:
  • Labor Day (Mon, Sep 7)
  • Columbus Day (Mon, Oct 12)
  • Thanksgiving break (Nov 23 to 26)
  • Winter break (Dec 21 to Jan 3)
  • MLK Day (Mon, Jan 18)
  • Presidents Day (Mon, Feb 15)
  • Spring break (Mar 15 to 18)
See the full 2026-27 schedule to print or save.
Can we change how often our kid comes?
Yes. You can move up or down a membership tier as space allows. Just let Phil know and we'll adjust your membership for the next month.
Do you offer a sibling discount?
Yes. If you enroll more than one kid, each additional child gets 10% off their membership. The discount is applied to your billing automatically, so there's nothing extra to do. Enrolling siblings on different tiers is fine too. Just let Phil know who's coming and how often.
What's your cancellation and refund policy?
Cancel anytime and you won't be billed again. Your kid keeps every session in the month you've already paid for. We don't refund or pro-rate a month once it has started. Since seats are capped at 5, your spot opens up for the next family on the waitlist once your paid month ends.
What if my kid misses a session?
Because groups are capped at 5, each seat is reserved and the membership holds it whether or not your kid makes every session. We do offer one makeup session per month when space allows, so an occasional conflict is not a problem.
Does my kid need their own clubs? Any experience?
No to both. We have loaner clubs, and no prior experience is needed, though kids who bring their own set tend to progress faster, since they're training with the clubs they actually play with. Groups are grade-banded and Phil tailors the coaching within the group to where each kid is, from brand new to competitive.
What should they bring?
Athletic clothes they can move in, closed-toe shoes (sneakers are fine), a hat, and a water bottle. And their clubs. Kids train better with the set they actually play with outside the academy, so we encourage every kid to bring their own. Don't have clubs yet? No problem, we have loaner sets to use in the meantime, and Phil can point you toward the right first set when you're ready.
What if the weather's bad?
The academy runs rain or shine. Sessions are held indoors in the studio, so weather never gets in the way of a full 90 minutes of real work. A rainy day never cancels a session, and your membership just runs as normal.
Where do we drop off and pick up?
Grey Rock Golf Club, 7401 Hwy 71 W. Head to the driving range, we're in the building to the left of the tee. Park anywhere in the range lot. The first day, walk your kid in so we can match faces to names.
How small are the groups, really?
5 players max per session. That's a 1 to 5 coaching ratio, so every kid gets real, individual feedback instead of crowd control.
What happens over the summer?
The academy follows the school year, August through May. Over the summer, Phil runs week-long junior camps instead. See the summer camp page for weeks and ages.
